Simply Sunday Challenge - Fantasy Land

The Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky is "Fantasy Land".  You can link your project - as many as you want that fits the criteria - for a chance to win a surprise set of Kristal Andrew Design Stamps.

I created a cute layout with my 4-year old Grand-daughter.  She and I made a dress together and it was her first time sewing.  She actually hemmed the sleeve of her dress herself.  She was so proud, she showed everyone at church that she helped make it.  I used Kristal's new Valentine Stamp set for the sentiment "Sew in Love".

She loves standing over the heat register with her dresses on, reminds me of Marilyn Monroe, and it doesn't make her dizzy like twirling does!!!!

The first thing she said was, "Nana, I feel like a princess."  So this Paper Piecing By Nikki of Belle, is the perfect thing for this layout - since Belle is currently her favorite princess.

The new Valentine stamp sets are available now at www.kandrewdesigns.com  If you order both sets, this mini set "Key to my Heart" will be included free, while supplies last.

Join me and link your 'fantasy' project (s) up at Getting Cricky for a chance to win a surprise stamp set!!!

Getting Cricky Preview Week - Day Four

Welcome Back to Preview Week at Getting Cricky.  My Design Team Sisters and I have been asked to pick a stamp set (s) and make projects for the entire week - using just that set (s).  I chose Pirate Party and Pirate Tales and Fish Scales as my set and this is what I came up with for today!

I made a center step card with the mermaid.  She is just so cute with her sparkly tail behind waves of torn paper.  I must say that the little fish and bubble stamp is one of my favorites.  Just love to use it as a border or accents!  The sentiment "Tales of a Mermaid" is just perfect.   Here are the stamp sets I used.

Getting Cricky Preview Week of Fun - Day Two

Welcome back to day two of fun at Getting Cricky! The Design Team for K. Andrew Design Stamps at Getting Cricky was asked to pick a stamp set and do a weeks worth of projects using just that stamp set.  I picked Pirate Party and Pirate Tales and Fish Scales.   As promised, I have a really cute project for today.  Perfect for those of you with little ones in daycare - or playgroup - or just as a party favor for a pirate or mermaid themed birthday party!  Here it is:

How cute is this????   I took a snack size ziplock bag and filled it with colored fish crackers.  Then I cut my paper the width of the bag - folded it over the top and stapled it on.  My sentiment says, "Somethings fishy".  The stickles on the mermaids tails make it 'pop'.  What a great, fun hand-out for the little ones.

Week of Inspiration and Fun at Getting Cricky - Day One

Morning Everyone!  I want to start by saying how much I love being a member of Kristal Andrews Getting Cricky Design Team.  If you haven't seen, heard or used her stamps before - please head over to her site and take a peek at them.  I can't say enough about the quality of these stamps - They stamp clear and clean - always retain their 'cling' and for me - they are my 'go to' stamps!
This week each of her Design Team members have taken ONE stamp set and agreed to make a weeks worth of projects, just using that set.  At the end of the week, we are all participating in a Valentines Hop -- to preview her amazing new sets that are available for pre-order!  There will be MANY chances to win free stamps and goodies along the way - so please come back each day and check out the amazing inspiration!

This week, I will be featuring the 'PIRATE PARTY' image set and the 'PIRATE TALES AND FISH SCALES' sentiment set!  Now, this is a favorite of my 4-year old grand-daughter.  Don't be surprised if there is a project this week by Lexi!

I had so much fun making this card.  I stamped around the border with the sword stamp and then added stickles to make them 'pop'.  I fussy cut the sentiment "Keep An Eye Out" and the cute little pirate - added them to some perfect paper that I got from my DCWV Once Upon A Time stack - and there you have it.   I stamped the envelope with the same pirate sword and added the cute little fish stamp!  Here's what these two amazing stamp sets look like:

You can see these at K. Andrew Designs

This set is so much fun!  I hope you'll stop by tomorrow, I have a really adorable project for you - perfect for those of you with little ones, play dates, pre-school get togethers!  Please leave me a comment and a link to your blog - I'd love to come visit you!

Let It Snow - Simply Sunday Challenge

It's that time again for another Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky.  We've been asked to make projects that include embossing.  I did a couple of projects for this challenge.  The first is...
...a penguin card!  I just loved this paper piecing file I got from Paper Piecing By Nikki.  She has some remarkable designs, that are so much fun to use.  K Andrew Design Stamps seem to fit perfectly with this design.  I just love the way this came out.  The snowflake border/corner punch set is from the Martha Stewart Collection, that I bought just before Christmas.  I added some stickles (which I consider a form of embossing) and ribbon - popdots to make my penguins 'pop'.

Now the stamps I used are from a couple different stamps sets.  K. Andrew Design Stamps are just like potato chips - you can't just have one set.  And, because they are so interchangeable, fun and affordable, you don't have to settle for just one!  "Friends of a feather...." came from the Crafty Friends Set and "Crack me up" and "Uh Oh" came from "Hoot a-Accessories" stamp set.

My next project I have mixed feelings on - but I'm posting it, because I think think the design is good - but perhaps needs some work...The card design/folds came from a Splitcoaststamper.com tutorial.  I wanted something that would be a gift, too.  Hence, the bookmark in the middle.  The last pocket (with the owl on it) is a place to insert a letter or note...

I used a cuddlebug embossing folder for the snowy village - and some stickles.  Fussy cut the owl from the "Hooty Owls" stamp set.  Added "Owl Love From" from the "Owly Hoo" Stamp Set and the "Our nest" from "Hoot a-Accessories".  I stamped 'Howdy' on the owl, attached it with some pop-dots and hope that it will be used as a bookmark later.

Like I said, not one of my favorite cards...but I think the layout has a lot of possibilities and to show you - here's another card I made for another challenge.

I used the 'freebie' on Paper Piecing by Nikki's site for the candy kisses.  For the sentiments, I used a bunch of K. Andrew Design Stamps.  "Sweet" comes from the bonus set 'Sweet Wishes" that is available free with your order of  $25.00 or more at K. Andrew Designs.  "Everything is better with chocolate" comes from the 'Coffee & Tea Treats' Set and "Besties are the Best Friends" came from the "Crafty Friends" Set.

I hope you all take a minute to check out the rest of the design team's super awesome designs at Getting Cricky.  Then link up your own Let It Snow design!  Thanks so much for taking a peek at my designs - I'd love to hear what you think - so please leave me a comment.

RING IN THE NEW YEAR - Paper Piecing Blog Hop

Welcome to the "Ring in the New Year" Blog Hop, sponsored by our own Nikki from Paper Piecings By Nikki.  If you arrived here from the multi-talented and amazing Mandy then you are in the right spot.  If you'd like to start at the beginning of the hop, you can start at Nikki's blog.

For my project today, I made a card for a dear friend who hasn't had such a great 2011.  I'm hoping that 2012 is going to be a MUCH better year...even, as the card says, if she has to put on her 'rose tinted' glasses and look at it that way!  The file I used for the amazing 'perfectly perfect' Beary Poppins is from Nikki's site.    The sentiment stamp I used is from K. Andrew Designs.  It's from a set called "Positive Thoughts" and boy is it filled with positive thoughts.  $1 of every stamp set purchased goes to charity.  This stamp set helps support the "Storefront Homeless Shelter for Children".

Now for  my project!!!

As you can see, I had sooooo much fun decorating this little piecing - pop dotting this and stickling that --Nikki's designs are so versitile!  Kristal Andrews stamps are amazing also.  I love how clean they stamp and how crisp and clean the sentiment stamps!

I love the inside of the card - (her umbrella wouldn't fit on the front).  Here is the original Paper Piecing Design and also the Stamps Set I used.
