Creative Sisters Monday Challenge #8 and a Winner!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

Here in Maine it has rained and rained and rained and...well, you get the picture.  The biggest problem with rain is that my satellite connection goes down and I am unable to do anything online.  But, here I am for the moment - a week late and a project short of our Creative Sisters Monday Challenge.  So before I lose my connection again, I want to announce the winner of my challenge #7 - Flowers.  The winner of the card set is
DONNA - DIARY OF A SCRAPBOOK ADDICT

Congratulations Donna and thank you to everyone who entered our challenge.  The projects were amazing!  If I haven't visited your site to thank you for your entry, I will be - as my connection allows.  I appreciate each and everyone of you taking the time and your talent to enter!

My sister is hosting Challenge #8, which is BIRTHDAY!!!!  My birthday happened to be yesterday and I am so excited to see all the entries for this challenge.  For my project, I am sharing my hubby's card with you.  He went down to my studio and used the scraps he could find (he even raided our grand-daughters box, looking for things he could scraplift.)  After looking at his card - you can understand why he requested a "hubby box" of cast-offs, so he will have something to work with for his next creation!!!   I think my "scrapping" is rubbing off.....

If you look closely you can see that he got carried away with the glue stick and it's sticky - also covered in yorky hair ( he was holding one or all three on his lap to keep them quiet)

Today in my studio, I will start a hubby box - so that he has some things to choose from the next time he makes a card.  Perhaps one day he will even attempt to use the cricut!!!   Thanks to my sister Linda - my gift was amazing!!!!   He bought me KATES ABC Cartridge!!!!   My youngest son got me the BOTANICALS Lite cartridge...Now, I just have to iron that basket of clothes - and the day is mine to get creative!!!!

HERO BLOG HOP

We Love Our Hero’s Blog Hop 5/21

Today is Armed Forces Day, so again, this is a hop to support and bring awareness to the works of Operation Write Home . You should have arrived from: Linda..http://www.lindascreativity.blogspot.com/
if not please start at Misty’s, so You don’t miss anything this wonderful group has to offer. In addition to card makers making cards for service persons to send home to their families, OWH has what they call ‘Hero Mail’. These cards can be any size; not just the usual required A2. They also include a personal note to ‘Any Hero’. We call them Hero’s, because OWH covers all branches of service. These are passed out to deployed hero’s, who might not get much mail, or just passed around to enjoy news from home. Here is more info.

Thank you to All of our Heros, past , present and those who serve on the Homefront as well!

My youngest son, Brian, served in the Army.  He was an Airborne Engineer.  (Yes, that means he jumped out of perfectly good airplanes - LOL)  When Brian was sent to Iraq, I wrote him a letter and put a copy in his scrapbook.  For my project, I would like the share that letter - from a mother to her son.  Brian returned home safe and sound - yet for many mother's that was not the case.  My love and prayers to all who have loved and lost their "Hero's".

Your next stop is….Jazzy http://www.JazzysCards.Blogspot.com/

Creative Sisters Monday Challenge #7 - May Flowers

Hope everyone is having fun with their May Flower projects. I have another project to share with you. My husband just finished my herb garden and the flowers he and our granddaughter planted last fall have burst forth in color. I had to do a scrapbook page!

I really love the way this page came out.  I added lots of bling, but it doesn't seem to show up in the pictures.  I even caught a visiting squirrel in the nearby pergola that I had to include.  Hope this inspires you to add your own project.  There is one more week to do so!

You can link up here or at the original challenge post...you're choice!

Creative Sisters Monday Challenge #7 - MAY FLOWERS

"APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS"
and here in Maine, we not only had showers, but hail, snow, ice, winds.  We've been wondering if it would ever feel like spring.  This week, my crocus's burst forth in color,  the daffodil's lifted their heads and the grass began to "green up".  Spring has found us.  In honor of spring - my challenge is to do anything you want, but please include "May Flowers".  Any flower you wish - as many or as few as you'd like - but your project must contain some sort or form of flower!

 Here is my project.

I used Kraft paper for the base of my cards and then used a technique my sister showed me.  I stamped a flower design using my versamark stamp pad all over the background of the card.  I stepped out of my comfort zone with these two cards and used earth tones - something I don't normally use.  The first card I used the "Freshly Picked" cartridge for the flower pot and the second card I used my Stampin Up herb stamp set.

I'm really pleased with how they both came out.

The rules for the challenge are simple:

1.  Become a follower if you aren't already.
2.  Leave a comment on this post.
3.  Link your challenge project with Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post.
4.  Visit my sisters blog and check out her project!

Blog Candy?  Well of course, there is always blog candy for our challenges!  For this challenge, the winner will receive the two cards that I featured!  In addition to the cards, I will include some things from my stash - cutouts, etc.
