HERO BLOG HOP

We Love Our Hero’s Blog Hop 5/21

Today is Armed Forces Day, so again, this is a hop to support and bring awareness to the works of Operation Write Home . You should have arrived from: Linda..http://www.lindascreativity.blogspot.com/
if not please start at Misty’s, so You don’t miss anything this wonderful group has to offer. In addition to card makers making cards for service persons to send home to their families, OWH has what they call ‘Hero Mail’. These cards can be any size; not just the usual required A2. They also include a personal note to ‘Any Hero’. We call them Hero’s, because OWH covers all branches of service. These are passed out to deployed hero’s, who might not get much mail, or just passed around to enjoy news from home. Here is more info.

Thank you to All of our Heros, past , present and those who serve on the Homefront as well!

My youngest son, Brian, served in the Army.  He was an Airborne Engineer.  (Yes, that means he jumped out of perfectly good airplanes - LOL)  When Brian was sent to Iraq, I wrote him a letter and put a copy in his scrapbook.  For my project, I would like the share that letter - from a mother to her son.  Brian returned home safe and sound - yet for many mother's that was not the case.  My love and prayers to all who have loved and lost their "Hero's".

Oh wow - your post is amazing (leaving a little teary eyed) - and your blog is simply gorgeous! I swear, I felt like "oh this smells good!" as it loaded!! I could "imagine" the beautiful smell! Very soothing decor...

I forgot to introduce myself I was so taken with your site and story!
I'm Vicki - I am in the hop with you today ...

Thank you so much Patti for sharing your story and family. I have really taken a commitment to OWH - I don't think the only thing our military needs is food and sleeping quarters...I think the card idea (both Hero Mail and cards for them to send their families) is very much needed...and I plan to send a lot more cards to OWH this year and all to follow ---

Thanks again ...

What an incredible letter!! My cousin (who is just a few years older than me and was one of my best friends growing up) was ALSO an Airborne Engineer with the Army!! We used to ask ourselves why on earth he would want to leave a perfectly good plane too! When he joined, I was heartbroken and proud -- heartbroken that I would go ages without seeing him and proud that he was willing to take that risk... Thank you for sharing your letter, and thank you to your son for his service... It means so much.
