Checking in with a cupcake project

My Grandest-daughter, Lexi, 4, and I were walking around the herb garden this morning.  She loves it when I tell her about the herbs and what they are used for.  "Why do you have flowers in your garden, Nana?"  "Well, Lexi, some flowers are edible and look pretty in a salad or on a cupcake."   Can you see where this conversation was leading.  By 10:00 this morning we had a dozen cupcakes made, decorated with freshly picked nastursiams and johnny-jump-ups.  Of course "Life's a Party" cricut cartridge came in handy for the cupcake wrappers, and we used the "Tags, Bags, Boxes and More" paper pack for the wrapper.  Lexi decorated her very own white wrapper with lots of hearts, bling and Disney Princess Stickers.

Now...if only she will wait til after lunch to eat her cupcake.....hmmmmmmm!!!!

Creative Sisters Monday Challenge - Christmas in June!

My sister Linda is hosting the challenge this week - Christmas in June.  She's asking everyone to make a card or tag with a Christmas Theme.  For my project, I made a card, using the Winter Frolic cartridge.  I cut the beaver out at 3".  Hope this inspires you to create your own Christmas project.

Remember to submit your project to Mr. Linky at my sisters blog!  Those that enter both challenges this month will be eligible to win the PRESERVES cartridge!

Color Challenge Project

This week the Creative Sisters Monday Challenge was to create something using only one color.  You could use all different shades and textures, but just one color.  I chose blue and an envelope album for my project.

I used a manila envelope for a pattern and cut my envelopes out of two different blue papers.  Then I added embelishments.  I joined the album together with a ring.

My grandest-daughter, Lexi, is 4 years old and she tells the most outrageous stories you can imagine.  I write the funniest ones down in a journal and will embelish those pages and place them in the envelopes, along with any other "memorabilia" that just can't be scrapbooked.

This color challenge really was a CHALLENGE!!!   I found myself constantly reaching for something with a different color or pattern and reminding myself that I had to stay with blue.

Thank you Karen, my Guest Designer for challenging us!  Make sure you stop by http://www.littlescrappieces.blogspot.com/ and check out all her fabulous creations!  She's has some amazing things - a very talented lady!

Remember to link up your project - there are still a few days left - and those that enter this challenge and my sisters challenge next Monday, will be entered to win the P R E S E R V E S  Cartridge!  Good Luck!

Meet the Creative Sisters Guest Designer, Karen from the Little Scrap Pieces Blog.  She has some amazing creations posted on her blog and you will see she is a very talented lady.

A bit about Karen:

I am minutes from Downtown Saratoga NY with my husband of 35 years and we have three wonderful daughters ages 30, 25, and 20.  Ever since I can remember I have been in love with all crafts.  My grandmother was a seamstress and I could spend hours looking through her tin of buttons and box of laces.  As a young girl, my mom taught me to knit.  She is an avid quilt maker.  During the 90's I did a ton of cross stitch samplers.  Loved the vast choice of thread and linen colors.  But it would take weeks to  complete one project.

At a book fair I saw a K&Company scrapbook kit and the rest they say is history.  I began scrap booking and then started making some cards for special occasions.  Card making is so gratifying for me.  You can take all day to make one or sometimes only minutes.  But, they are always appreciated.

Thanks to Patti for selecting my idea.  I hope it inspires you to work out of your comfort zone.
